Spirit of Sussex Coaches will join the FlixBus network in the spring of this year in a move that will see the first Yutong GT14 coaches enter service on those duties, with two due to arrive.
The tri-axle vehicles will be to FlixBus specification. They follow many deliveries of the two-axle GT12 to FlixBus operator partners. The GT14 was launched by dealership Pelican Bus and Coach in late 2025 and seats a maximum of 61 passengers, with the Castleford business having already highlighted its suitability for use on scheduled services
FlixBus UK says the move continues its quest “to become the UK’s leading coach network.” Spirit of Sussex Coaches is part of Go-Ahead Group business Brighton and Hove Buses and Metrobus. Its introduction to FlixBus follows Go South Coast having joined in 2025 via its Excelsior Coaches arm.
Interim Managing Director Rupert Cox says: “We are excited to join the FlixBus network, bringing new opportunities into our business and working with the brand that is delivering coach services designed for the future.”
Adds FlixBus Vice-President of West Europe Areas Schörling: “Partnerships are at the heart of our success, and Spirit of Sussex is a fantastic addition to the growing group of high-quality operators.
“As we head into the new year, we remain firmly in a hypergrowth phase. With market leadership in our sights, we will grow our network by the same in 2026 as we did last year.”
Spirit of Sussex Coaches is currently recruiting drivers for the FlixBus work; the travel tech company has told routeone that details of the routes that the operator will deliver with the Yutong GT14 pair will be announced in due course and closer to tickets going on sale.
