Stagecoach has appointed Ticketer as its new supplier of ticketing and real-time information technology.

The agreement will see Stagecoach deploy Ticketer’s detachable TK300 electronic ticket machine across its fleet, with the national rollout due to begin in September.

The win is a significant one for Ticketer and places its technology across one of the UK’s largest bus networks. Stagecoach says the decision stems from the scalability of the platform, recent developments with the supplier’s product offering, and its ability to meet both “current operational requirements and longer-term innovation.”

The TK300 platform brings together electronic ticketing, automatic vehicle location, and real-time information within a single ecosystem. Further elements of the agreement, including other solutions and the scope of services to be provided, are being developed jointly by the companies ahead of the rollout.

“This partnership with Ticketer marks a significant step forward in our commitment to delivering a smarter, more connected bus network for our customers,” says Kate Jones, Group Chief Information Officer at Stagecoach. “By bringing together ticketing, real-time information and vehicle location into a single, integrated platform, we are simplifying our onboard technology while unlocking new opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency and the overall passenger experience. We were particularly impressed by Ticketer’s collaborative approach and future-ready technology, which aligns closely with our ambition to innovate at pace and provide a modern, high-quality service across our network.”

Adds Ticketer CEO Kelly Hanna: “We are incredibly excited to be partnering with Stagecoach and supporting one of the UK’s largest and most recognised bus networks. This appointment is a testament to the strength of our technology platform, the dedication of our people, and our continued progress in delivering a modern solution for the public transport industry.

“We look forward to working closely with the Stagecoach team to deliver against its operational needs today, while building a long-term partnership that drives operational excellence, enhances the passenger experience, and supports Stagecoach’s ambitions for years to come.”

Adam Toone, Ticketer Chief Operating Officer, also adds: “Behind every successful partnership is a shared focus on delivery, collaboration and continuous improvement. Our teams are already working closely with Stagecoach to ensure a smooth transition and to deliver a solution that supports their operational requirements from day one. We are particularly excited about the opportunity to bring our experience, product capability and customer-focused approach to a network of this scale, helping Stagecoach make the most of its technology investment while supporting better outcomes for passengers and teams across the business.”

Stagecoach is also examining opportunities to consolidate its onboard technology through partnerships with other suppliers via the online Ticketer Portal. The supplier says the portal will form a central hub from which access is provided to other connected systems, services and data.
