MPs continue their inquiry into the decline of bus services in England today (30 January), with a session on how funding cuts to local authorities have affected the ability of councils to subsidise services.
This hearing with the Local Government Association, TAS Partnership, FirstGroup and Blackpool Transport will also examine how concessionary fare reimbursement works in different areas of the country and how funding is used to encourage more people to use buses.
This is the fifth evidence session of the Committee’s inquiry. The Committee has heard from passenger groups, local authorities and bus companies and visited Bristol, Leicester and Liverpool as it looks into the reasons behind the decline in bus use outside London.
