Two former bus drivers of Penygroes based Express Motors have been cleared of conspiracy to commit fraud involving the concessionary travel scheme after the prosecution dropped the case against them at Caernarfon Crown Court

Michael Munson, of Llanllechid, Bangor, and Aled Wyn Davies, of Rhosgadfan, near Caernarfon, were alleged to have committed the offence with others including directors of the company between June 2012 and September 2014.

Judge Timothy Petts entered not guilty verdicts after the prosecution offered no evidence against the two men.

On 2 January four of the company’s Directors Eric Wyn Jones, Ian Wyn Jones, Keith Jones, and Kevin Jones pleaded not guilty at Caernarfon Crown Court to conspiracy to commit fraud involving the concessionary travel scheme [routeone/News/10 January].

Another driver employed by the company, Rheinallt Williams of Rhydfadog Estate, Deiniolen, near Caernarfon, has denied a charge of conspiracy. The Directors also deny that between June 13 2012 and September 11 2014, they conspired to conceal money by failing to account for all cash takings as business income, failing to pay any taxes due on the cash takings, and paying the takings into personal bank accounts without declaring this as income. The five men face trial in September.
