Lothian Buses has been awarded £327,604 of funding from the Scottish Government’s Bus Emissions Abatement Retrofit programme to retrofit buses to achieve Euro 6 compliance.
The Edinburgh operator’s application was received and assessed by the Energy Savings Trust. Full funding has been granted for 11 buses, and a further 25 have been awarded 40% support. Lothian will pay the remainder.
Claire McVicar, Environmental Officer, says: “We are fully committed to improving air quality across our operations in Edinburgh and the Lothians through our Bus2020 strategy.
“We are delighted to receive further funding from the Scottish Government to assist us in achieving our aims. This funding, combined with our own substantial investment, will be used to retrofit 36 Euro 5 buses to meet Euro 6 standards.”
Under Bus2020, Lothian is committed to running only buses that meet Euro 5 limits or better by the end of 2020.
