Bacardi has been supporting efforts against coronavirus COVID-19 by producing hand sanitiser for key workers, with its latest donation made to bus drivers across the Highlands region this week.

Royal Brackla Distillery in Cawdar and four other Bacardi-owned distilleries in Scotland at Aberfeldy, Craigellachie, Aultmore and Macduff, as well as its Glasgow Dewar’s Whisky operations centre, have produced more than 8,500 litres of hand sanitiser in Scotland in the last month.

Since March Stagecoach highlands has been supplying hand sanitiser to its staff as part of its response to coronavirus COVID-19, with its depots in the rural Highlands challenged by supply.

Sanitiser has been donated to other frontline workers including the Scottish Ambulance Association, Scottish Fire and Rescue, local care homes and hospitals.

Managing Director for Stagecoach Highlands David Beaton says: “It is fantastic to receive this support from Bacardi. It will help us continue to keep our staff protected while they are operating the essential services to keep our communities connected.

Adds Niall Mitchell, UK Operations Director for Bacardi: “We’re incredibly humbled by the tireless efforts of frontline workers across Scotland and are proud to be doing our bit to help, not just globally but right here on the doorstep of our whisky distilleries.

By donating hand sanitiser to the people who need it most, from bus drivers to care workers, our goal is to make a real difference in the fight against COVID-19.”

Stagecoach buses in the region continue to operate to a reduced timetable providing connections for key workers and essential trips in line with government travel advice.
