Dublin-based Harris Group has won a contract to supply Higer Steed battery-electric buses to Glenveagh National Park in Donegal on behalf of the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.
Two buses will be delivered with an option for a third. They will be the first electric buses to be supplied to the public sector in Ireland.
The contract award was made in March and follows the demonstration of a test Higer Steed in the park during February. It was signed at a ‘socially distant’ meeting on 5 May.
The Steed can be fully charged in less than two hours and its battery performance will be optimised for the terrain of Glenveagh.
