Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal is to become the new Royal Patron of transport preservation charity The Transport Trust as the organisation rebrands to the National Transport Trust (NTT).

The rebrand reflects the charity’s growing and evolving role in the preservation of the nation’s transport heritage.

Princess Anne brings associations with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, the Worshipful Company of Carmen and Aerospace Bristol to support the charity, among others. She takes over from His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent, who has participated as Royal Patron for the last 43 years.

NTT Chief Executive Stuart Wilkinson says: “We are delighted to welcome our new Royal Patron, The Princess Royal, who has excellent connections to the world of transport.

“Today, NTT is the sole body representing the nation’s entire transport heritage in all its various guises – road, rail, water and air. By forging links and building relationships we offer a common platform for all and provide a single point of contact for anyone seeking information, expertise or advice on any particular form of transport preservation.

“With transport heritage an increasingly popular leisure activity, we look forward to continuing our work and further developing the range of services we offer.”

The NTT continues to develop links with preservationists, stakeholders and the general public throughout the UK.
