Centrad adds temperature check and passenger counting

Vehicle CCTV supplier Centrad has added a thermal temperature check and a passenger counting facility to its camera systems to assist operators during the recovery from coronavirus COVID-19.

The temperature check device can be seamlessly integrated with Centrad’s eight- and 12-camera systems. It provides monitoring and reporting of passengers’ temperatures, or it can be used in isolation to monitor passengers’ health.

As each person boards, the sensor will read their temperature. If it is above 38 degrees centigrade, an audible alarm will sound. An automated alert can also be sent to the operator with a snapshot of the passenger concerned.

Passenger counting is undertaken by an intelligent camera. It records boarding and alighting data. The intelligenr camera includes a real-time reporting function and a driver alert should the vehicle exceed an approved capacity.

Says Centrad Managing Director Geoff Cross (pictured): “Our thermal temperature monitoring system and connected camera systems are helping operators to avoid the risk of spreading the infection to other passengers and drivers, to provide customer reassurance and, ultimately, to get back to work sooner.”
