First 70 plate bus for Manchester as part of £5.8m Diamond Bus NW investment

Diamond Bus North West has highlighted its investment commitment to Greater Manchester over the last two weeks with the arrival of 28 brand new Wright Streetdeck buses, and what is believed to be Manchester’s first 70-plate bus.

The vehicles represent an investment of some £5.8m. The buses are painted in the firm’s two-tone blue branding, delivered direct from Ballymena in Northern Ireland. The finishing vinyls were completed on site in Bolton, by Smart Graphics.

Following what the firm describes as a ‘white knuckle ride’ of a first 12 months in Bolton, including preparing the fleet for the return of schools in September, the delivery represents a positive experience for the city.

Diamond Bus North West Managing Director Bob Dunn says: “This is just part of our investment of which, to date, we have received 47 brand-new buses during 2020 and over the pandemic. Our committed and respected team have pulled out all stops and done a great job in getting these vehicles ready for service in a short space of time.

“The fact we operated the first 70 plate bus in Greater Manchester is something we are all very proud of. It has been an achievement that we are still able to bring in these buses during these uncertain times. We are investing heavily into Greater Manchester and you can already see the difference we are making to the region.”
