Stagecoach today (5 May) joined the Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT) and the government to publicly thank coach and bus workers for their efforts in maintaining essential services.

Bus and Coach Worker Support Day sees members of the public encouraged to share messages of thanks using the hashtags #thankyoubusworkers or #thankyoucoachworkers. CPT and Stagecoach will display stories in their Twitter feeds of how drivers and workers are supporting communities during the pandemic.

Chief Executive of Stagecoach Martin Griffiths says: “There are thousands of coach and bus workers right across the country who are doing a fantastic job in helping to keep the country moving, ensuring links are available for key workers and other essential journeys.

“I would like to add my heartfelt thanks to everybody who is working hard at this time to deliver these crucial transport links. We know from the positive feedback we’ve seen just how appreciative people are of everything we are doing. I hope that everybody will join us today on Bus and Coach Worker Support Day to add their thanks to everybody working on the frontline and behind the scenes to make sure these journeys can continue.”

Stagecoach stresses how buses will be critical to the country’s recovery and in re-starting the economy. It is working with industry partners and the government on further measures needed to support the industry and in keeping people safe and reassured.

It continues to follow government and public health guidelines, and has implemented protective screens on buses, additional cleaning of key touch points, contactless where possible, and strict guidelines on social distancing.
