Uno continues fleet investment with two more Volvo MCVs

Hertfordshire operator Uno has invested further in its fleet with the purchase of two Volvo B8RLEs with highly specified MCV Evora bodywork. They complement six such buses that were delivered to Uno in 2018 and will be used on routes across the operator’s home county and north London.

Managing Director James Thorpe says the previous buses have performed “really well.” He adds that capacity is key for Uno on its routes into the University of Hertfordshire site at Hatfield, hence the addition of further heavyweights. “Plus, they have Euro VI engines – with a Low Carbon Emission Bus certificate – which means that we can use them on our routes that cross into London’s Low Emission Zone,” he adds.

Mr Thorpe says the addition of further new buses complements Uno’s work with Hertfordshire County Council on the county’s Enhanced Partnership. “The super-low emission buses will start making a difference to air quality, as well as enhancing the customer experience.”

Internally, the vehicles have been specified with Uno’s bespoke moquette on high-back Vogelsitze seats with USB charging points. Hanover’s audio-visual next stop announcement system is also fitted, along with wi-fi and a comprehensive Synectics CCTV package.

Murals of local places to visit are also applied, while the story of Uno from its beginnings as Universitybus is told on a ceiling coving panel.

Adds Volvo Bus National Account Manager Richard Mann: “We are delighted that Uno has returned to Volvo following the purchase of six B8RLE MCV Evora single-deckers in 2018.

“Those buses have proved themselves in terms of fuel economy, passenger comfort and reliability, and that has been a key factor in Uno returning with a further order.” Volvo offers the B8RLE Evora at lengths of 12.1m and 10.8m.
