NCT Driver Bradley Codd praised by police for assisting passenger

A Nottingham City Transport (NCT) bus driver has been praised by Nottinghamshire Police after he helped an elderly passenger on his bus.

In late February, Bradley Codd (pictured) noticed one of his passengers – a senior citizen on his Yellow Line 68 bus to Bulwell – showed signs of being confused and unable to find her way home. It’s believed his actions helped prevent her from going missing.

Bradley stopped his bus on Mansfield Road and contacted the control room to request police assistance. He then ensured the passenger was safe and learned as much information he could about her until police arrived.

“The driver showed a very high level of professional standards while conducting his role and ensured that he adhered to his duty of care by recognising the needs of the elderly female passenger involved,” says Nottinghamshire Police’s PC Luke Barrows. “Had the bus driver not taken this action, the passenger would have likely become a high-risk missing person and the actions of the bus driver clearly prevented this.”

Adds Anthony Carver-Smith, NCT Head of Marketing: “Bradley demonstrated great care and compassion and we’re proud of the support he gave to a passenger at what must have been a very distressing time.”
