The Go-Ahead Group has appointed Martin Dean as Managing Director UK Regional Bus, meaning he will take responsibility for all the Group’s bus companies in the UK outside London.

He will be responsible for overseeing the performance of Go-Ahead’s regional bus companies Go North East, Go North West, Go South West, Go South Coast, Oxford Bus Company, Metrobus, Go East Anglia, East Yorkshire, and Brighton and Hove Bus Company.

Martin is well known as Chairman of the Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT) and was previously Managing Director – Business Development for Go-Ahead where he led the Group’s expansion into Manchester, Singapore and the Republic of Ireland.

The appointment comes after Go-Ahead launched its business strategy The Next Billion Journeys earlier this month.

“Martin brings a wealth of expertise after 13 years at the Go-Ahead Group,” says Chief Executive of The Go-Ahead Group Christian Schreyer. “He understands the industry from top to bottom and he has a track record of success in building and managing bus businesses as well as his wider industry links through CPT. Martin is the ideal person to build on our UK Regional Bus management.

“I am confident he will help to achieve the priorities set out in the The Next Billion Journeys strategy, helping the business to grow and prosper across all UK regions.”

Adds Martin: “It’s a privilege to take on this role as we encourage more and more people back onto the buses following the pandemic. I’m looking forward to working with the outstanding regional teams across the UK. I’m excited to see what the future brings for UK regional buses, especially as we start seeing the benefits of the government’s investment in zero-emission fleets and Bus Service Improvement Plans.”
