Driving has become a generation game for Paul Miller, his son Andy and his grandson Thomas Sykes, as the three take to the road with Harrogate Bus Company.

Paul, 58, was first to take his place behind the wheel in May of this year, working at the operator’s Starbeck depot. He was followed by son Andy, 40, in September, and the family trio was completed in October when 20-year-old Thomas followed the pair into the driving seat.

The latter two report that they joined after seeing how much Paul was enjoying his new career.

“When I joined the company in May I settled in quickly, and having seen me enjoying it, Andy and now Thomas decided to follow me into a career on the buses,” Paul says. “It’s a great career which I’d recommend to anyone looking for a fresh start. I’m proud to see three generations of our family are now part of our team at The Harrogate Bus Company.”

Adds Harrogate Bus Company General Manager, Steve Ottley: “We sometimes see two brothers or sisters in our driving team, but it’s not often we have three generations joining us in the same year!

“Driving with us offers a great way to start a new career for the New Year. Our drivers can now earn £29,000 a year and our new starters get a £500 bonus after six months, plus another £500 at the end of year one. There’s also a generous bonus package. No wonder we’re seeing a grandad, dad and son all getting on board with us.”
