The Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT) has named Aaron Hill as its new Director of CPT Cymru.

Mr Hill, who has an extensive experience in policy, influencing and external affairs, has taken over from Joshua Miles in directing CPT’s work in Wales.

Among his tasks will be pushing the benefits of coach and bus to the Welsh Government. He will also seek investment for the sector in a bid to cut congestion and help operators meet environmental targets.

“I’m really excited to meet our members and get stuck into the policy agenda that affects buses and coaches in Wales,” says Mr Hill. “There are big questions on funding, net zero and upcoming legislative change. I look forward to championing the role buses and coaches can play in tackling the climate emergency and boosting local economies.”

A board member of the RHA Wales housing association, Mr Hill has also been Wales’ Head of Policy for the National Deaf Children’s Society, Director of Policy and Membership at the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations and Head of Policy and External Affairs at Community Housing Cymru.

CPT Chief Executive Graham Vidler said: “I’m delighted to welcome Aaron to the CPT team. His significant policy and external affairs experience will be a huge asset to our members in Wales.”

Mr Miles, who had been with CPT Cymru for just over two years, has landed a role as Director for Wales at the Learning and Work Institute.
