Nottingham City Transport (NCT) has achieved DVSA’s Earned Recognition status, making it the first bus operator in the city to be accepted into the national scheme.

The recognition showcases NCT’s commitment to compliance and safety standards and demonstrates that it has robust systems and processes in place to continuously monitor its performance. NCT Operational Compliance Manager, Natalie Monaghan-Smith, led the year-long project that enabled NCT to achieve the Earned Recognition Status.

The recognition brings benefits that include being less likely to have vehicles stopped at the roadside and DVSA visits, access to future DVSA incentives, and demonstrating that NCT is an exemplary operator with safety at the forefront.

Ms Monaghan-Smith expressed her pleasure with the news, thanking everyone throughout the company for their help and support during the process. “Having worked on the Earned Recognition Project for nearly a year, ensuring all of our policies, procedures and systems are up to date and in line with the national standards, I am very pleased that all of the hard work has paid off,” she says.

David Astill, NCT’s Managing Director, adds: “This is further vindication of the high standard of repute enjoyed by Nottingham’s bus company. Our team members, customers and shareholders can be rightly proud. I am the first to acknowledge that none of this would be possible without the dedication and hard work of our loyal staff who consistently deliver the best bus service in Britain seven days a week”.

The DVSA Earned Recognition scheme enables operators to prove that they meet stringent driver and vehicle standards by showing that they are fully compliant with vehicle and road safety standards, promoting effective and proactive transport management, and having robust systems and processes in place.

The Nottingham operator joins around 80 other coach and bus operators from across the UK that have been accepted into the Earned Recognition scheme.
