Oxford Tube driver, Konrad Jaskolski, is celebrating publishing his first novel that tells a tale about a boy who explores life as an immigrant.

Konrad’s job as a bus driver helped him write his novel

Originally from Warsaw in Poland, Konrad, 39, left the country nine years ago, before settling in Headington, Oxford.

Says Konrad: “The novel is about changes and about movement. I have been an immigrant for nine years and I have seen and experienced many diverse things.

“Mostly I have been working as a bus driver, but I have also worked in lots of other places before coming to Oxford.”

The novel explores what modern life is really like for immigrants and follows the adventures of a young boy who travels to London in search of a job. The boy becomes frustrated with the visa system and decides to move to New Zealand.

Konrad adds: “I couldn’t have completed my story without my job. As a bus driver I can see many different people and different situations.”

The novel was published in Poland on 16 December 2016. However, if it is well received Konrad is considering an English translation to be sold in the UK.
