Opera North’s revival of Cole Porter's Broadway comedy Kiss Me, Kate will transfer to the London Coliseum in the West End in 2018, running from 20-30 June.

Kiss Me, Kate will return to London’s West End after six years

Featuring the full-scale orchestra and chorus of Opera North, the production arrives in London following a premiere at the Leeds Grand Theatre in September 2015 and a UK tour to Theatre Royal Newcastle, The Lowry Salford, and Theatre Royal Nottingham. The production returns to Leeds Grand Theatre in May 2018.

The musical, based on William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew and presented as a play-within-a-play, centres on the love lives of actor-manager Fred Graham and his leading lady and ex-wife, Lilli Vanessi, as well as Lois Lane and her gambler boyfriend Bill.

Kiss Me, Kate originally opened in London at the London Coliseum in the West End in March 1951, running for 400 performances. The original Broadway production opened in December 1948 at the New Century Theatre. It was later revived once again at the London Coliseum in December 1970 presented by the Sadler's Wells Opera.

The musical was last seen in the West End in 2012 in Trevor Nunn's production at the Old Vic Theatre.
