Go South Coast has taken delivery of 16 Enviro400 double-deckers from Alexander Dennis.
The vehicles, which form part of an order of 44 of the model due to arrive with the Go-Ahead subsidiary this year, will be used on Bluestar routes 2 and 7 in Southampton.
Andrew Wickham, Managing Director for Go South Coast, says: “At Bluestar, we are committed to helping improve air quality here – so we have invested heavily to bring these new Alexander Dennis Enviro400 buses to the region.
“Our new buses have a striking new-look interior with a more comfortable and spacious seating layout, and lighter flooring. The upper deck is laid out in a similar way to a coach, and there is a ‘stop’ button on the back of every other seat. These impressive new vehicles also sport on-board technology including USB charging points for smartphones and hand-held devices, and contactless ticketing facilities.”
The remaining buses will be put to work on Go South Coast’s Morebus operating unit.
This follows an order last year for 35 Enviro400s for Morebus and Southern Vectis.
Mark Ballam, Commercial Manager for Alexander Dennis, adds: “We are delighted to continue our work as supplier for Go South Coast with this repeat order, which confirms the low-emission Enviro400 as the operator’s double decker of choice. All the new buses have been tailored to Go South Coast’s specification, and we look forward to supporting them through long and profitable working lives with our comprehensive AD24 aftermarket support.”
