A team from MAN Truck and Bus UK that includes Senior Bus and Coach Sales Executive Matt Jacob will tackle the National Three Peaks Challenge on 20-21 June to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Mr Jacob will be among around 20 colleagues from within MAN Truck and Bus UK, including Managing Director Stefan Thyssen and other senior leaders, who attempt to complete the National Three Peaks Challenge, with training already underway.

The team has set a fundraising target of £10,000 for the challenge, with donations accepted via a dedicated JustGiving page.

Speaking about the quest, Mr Jacob – who is well known around the coach industry for his work selling the Neoplan Tourliner range – notes that MAN “is proud to support Alzheimer’s Society as our chosen charity partner.”

He adds: “We continue to work with it to help make an impact on people’s lives affected by dementia. Plus, this is a really exciting yet tough challenge for us all to take on as team MAN.” Mr Jacob previously raised funds for charity via a boxing match in 2020 to benefit Parkinson’s UK.

Alzheimer’s Society assists those living with dementia, and campaigns to make the condition a priority and funding research. It was chosen as charity partner of MAN Truck and Bus UK in 2023 after a call for nominations from the vehicle supplier’s staff.

The National Three Peaks Challenge calls for the team or individual to climb the three highest peaks of England, Scotland and Wales: Scafell Pike in Cumbria, Ben Nevis in Inverness-shire, and Snowdon in Gwynedd, respectively.

Completion involves a total walking distance of 37km and a cumulative ascent of 3,064 metres. A driving distance of 462 miles is also necessary to travel between the three. Each mountain is expected to take around five hours to climb and descend for an average walker.
