Crowdfunding app’s first trip to charity concert is a success

Vamooz, the new Transdev Blazefield-owned app, ran its first crowdfunded trip to the One Love Manchester concert on 4 June.

Two buses were initially arranged to take passengers to the concert, but after tickets sold out within eight hours, another bus was added, taking only another 10 hours for that to sell out as well.

Tickets to the One Love Manchester concert sold out within 24 hours

Says Vamooz’s Sales and Operations Manager Rebecca Reeve-Burnett: “We posted details of the trip on social media on the Thursday before the concert, so it was a very quick turnaround and we are really pleased with how it went.”

The buses took 168 passengers to the concert, which included some of the people who had attended the Ariana Grande concert targeted during a terrorist attack that killed 22 people on 22 May.

Alex Hornby, CEO of Transdev Blazefield, says: “The feedback we got from Sunday was overwhelmingly positive and the passengers have gone on to social media to leave positive comments.”

The money made from fares – along with Transdev’s own contribution – were all donated to the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund.

Adds Ms Reeve-Burnett: “Vamooz gives everyone a chance to go where they choose.

“Using the app, people can suggest a destination of their choice for a day trip across the North – including to places not normally served by the regular bus network.

“The most popular choices are then selected to run and the price of the trip starts at a certain level and it gets lower and lower as more people book it.”
