Groups at Lichfield Cathedral are being offered the chance to discover its history and beauty by taking a guided tour of the three-spired medieval building – the only one of its kind in the UK.
Guides are able to tailor tours to the specific interests of visiting groups, be they Lichfield’s Anglo-Saxon or Victorian heritage, the famous Herkenrode stained-glass windows or the monuments found inside and around the building.
Visitors hoping to experience the cathedral at night can take advantage of candlelit, evening tours – while tower tours offer a bird’s-eye view of the city of Lichfield and beyond.
The cathedral can easily facilitate large tour groups, with parking for coaches available in Lichfield’s bus station nearby as well as a coach drop off point on Beacon Street, located near the Old Library.
Simon Warburton, Executive Director at Lichfield Cathedral, says: “We are giving visiting groups the chance to explore the cathedral with these guided tours, which can be modified to suit a range of interests.
“Booking in advance is absolutely essential to ensure that the cathedral is available for a group’s visit, and prices may vary depending on party size and the time of year, so anyone who is interested in making the most of this opportunity is encouraged to get in touch as soon as they can.”
A group tour, organised and led by the cathedral’s volunteers, is available to parties at a cost of £6.60pp and must be booked in advance.
