Arriva spends £2.6m to make 757 Greenline Euro 6 ready

In a £2.6m investment, Arriva in Luton has taken delivery of 13 Euro 6 Mercedes-Benz Tourismo coaches, for its high-profile Greenline 757 route from the town and its airport to London Victoria coach station.

It makes the route ready for compliance with the London ULEZ, from September 2020. They also have automatic engine stops, to prevent idling at terminals and stops.

It is a change for Arriva, which has long used DAF-powered Van Hool models over many years on the route.

Says Jonathan Prime, GM, Mercedes-Benz Coach Sales at EvoBus: “This order comes on the back of a highly-successful demonstration program with Arriva in Luton. The Tourismo proved its reliability along with impressive fuel economy during this period.”

The new coaches also mark a branding change, with the previous distinctive all-over two-tone green livery replaced by a ‘pared-down’ white-based scheme.

The coaches, with free Wi-Fi and USB ports, enter service by the end of the month.

Maq Alibhai, Area Managing Director South at Arriva, says: “These vehicles will provide cleaner air for all, and a higher-quality service for our customers.”
