Johnsons Coaches of Henley-in-Arden has taken delivery of a Van Hool TDX27 Astromega double-decker, supplied by VDL Bus and Coach UK.

It is a 14.2-metre model with 87 seats plus courier position and is the first new Van Hool double-decker to be handled by the Barnsley dealership since VDL Bus and Coach purchased parts of the Van Hool business.

Recently appointed Johnsons Coaches General Manager Ashley Brown collected the Van Hool and within two days of arrival it was dispatched on a ski tour to Austria.

The operator notes that such work is well suited to the coach’s capability and comfort on long-distance journeys and adds that its introduction alongside existing double-deckers will further strengthen Johnsons’ offering for private hire and tour work.

Says Mr Brown: “It was fantastic to drive our new double-decker home and experience its performance first-hand. This investment is a great step forward for Johnsons, allowing us to accommodate more passengers while maintaining the high standards of comfort and service that we are known for.”

Power is from a DAF MX-13 engine developing 530bhp and 2,600Nm of torque coupled to an Allison T525R automatic gearbox.
