Chalkwell Managing Director Roland Eglinton will once again run the London Marathon this year, and is raising funds for The Scout Association in doing so.

The event takes place on 27 April and covers a full course of 26.2 miles around the capital. Around 40,000 runners will take part in the race.

Mr Eglinton is a keen runner in his spare time and has previously completed several other events, including the 2023 London Marathon. He is aiming to raise at least £2,500 for The Scout Association in entering this year’s contest.

Speaking about those efforts, the Chalkwell chief says: “The London Marathon is such an iconic event and is a challenge for runners of all abilities. I had to take a break from running due to knee surgery, so getting fit again has been particularly challenging.

“That said, I am looking forward to what should be a challenging but rewarding experience. I am hoping to finish in under five hours, but anything can happen on the day.”

Mr Eglinton is a leader of a Scout group in Kent and notes that such a position enables him to see first-hand how young people can gain confidence and gain skills for life as being part of the Scouts.

“The money raised will help to support initiatives around the UK. Most coach operators will at some point have done work for Scout groups, so this is a good opportunity for our industry and its many suppliers to help out.”
