Weston-super-Mare-based operator Bakers Dolphin has partnered with local health initiative Donate for Defib W-s-M by providing discount coach travel for the group’s recent trip to the Houses of Parliament. There, the group met with MP Daniel Albridge to advocate for wider access to public available defibrillators.

The campaign is being led by former student paramedic Josh Bell. He is raising awareness of the role that automatic external defibrillators play in improving survival rates for those suffering sudden cardiac arrest.

Donate for Defib W-s-M works with regional air ambulance charities and AMS Electrical, which donates equipment and labour to support installations. The project has won local recognition for its community-driven approach and continues to campaign for greater public access to defibrillators through Weston-super-Mare and the wider Somerset region.

As well as being supported by Bakers Dolphin, the Westminster visit was supported by Elms Funeral Directors, which contributed the remaining travel costs.

According to organiser Josh, the trip was an “unforgettable journey”. He praises the team at Bakers Dolphin, particularly the driver.

“Our trip to Parliament and meeting with Daniel Albridge was crucial for furthering our mission and we’re incredibly grateful for the support of Bakers Dolphin and Elms Funeral Directors for providing us with transport.

“It wouldn’t have been possible without them or our incredible coach driver, Ryan, who went above and beyond, showing care, kindness, and genuine interest in our life-saving defibrillator project. He’s a true credit to Bakers Dolphin and we can’t thank [the company] enough for its continued commitment to the community.”

Comments Amanda Harrington, Sales and Marketing Director at Bakers Dolphin: “We were pleased to support Donate for Defib W-s-M’s recent visit to Parliament. Having been established in Weston-super-Mare and the South West for 130 years, we recognise the importance of supporting local initiatives like this one.

“With the extensive fleet of coaches we have available for hire, we are uniquely positioned to support causes like Donate for Defib and give back to the community.”
