Scania Great Britain has bought its franchise dealership partner Haydock Commercial Vehicles, including six branches at Deeside, Ellesmere Port, Haydock, Preston, Warrington, and Widnes.

Each of those locations carries out service and support work on Scania coach and bus products in addition to HGV activities. Scania Great Britain says that the purchase from previous owner Simon Dykes represents “a step to securing [its] UK dealer and service network for the future.”

The position for customers and the Haydock Commercial Vehicles workforce is business as usual. Mr Dykes will be succeeded as Chairman by Scania Great Britain Managing Director Chris Newitt. Chief Financial Officer Andreas Odebrink and Business Operations Director Emma Wilkins will join the board of the acquired business.

Speaking about the purchase, Mr Newitt says: “Today is a special occasion, as we reinforce our commitment to our valued customers and the UK by securing our dealer and service network for the future.

“I am very pleased to be welcoming our Haydock colleagues to our Scania Great Britain family, and hope that we will continue to learn, grow and get stronger together. Not only for our own benefit, but also for every Scania owner in the UK.”

Adds Mr Dykes: “It is the end of an era for me. I will be saying goodbye to a business and brilliant colleagues that I cherish most. I will always remember my time very fondly.

“But also, being happy in the knowledge that Haydock’s legacy and future is being left in safe hands with Chris and the Scania GB team.

“Together, I know in my heart that both businesses will ream the benefits. However, the big winners are our customers, as we will be better placed to support them today and into the future.”

Scania Great Britain adds that over the coming months, it will work closely with Haydock Commercial Vehicles to establish best ways of working.
