Tower Transit Group has deployed the TransMach 5G TM700 modular ticket machine for its renewed LibertyBus contract in Jersey.
That marks TransMach’s entry into the Channel Islands market and has seen it deliver over 80 of the latest-generation Android-based units. TransMach has also enabled a new public point of sale terminal for the LibertyBus travel outlet at Liberation bus station in St Helier.
The supplier has additionally been engaged to deliver a fully managed Software as a Service cloud-based back-office system for LibertyBus using existing TransXchange files and fare data as well as the integration of almost 100 smartcard products.
That work ensures the bus station sales point can retail, update and add smartcards, with data then uploaded to the back-office reporting system for reconciliation.
Tower Transit Operations Director Sam Greaves notes how technical support from TransMach in London and on-site assistance in Jersey led to the system being switched over “seamlessly.”
He continues: “Passengers noticed the different ETM and the faster speed of transactions, which makes boarding much quicker. It has been a pleasure to work with the team at TransMach to roll out its class-leading TM700 machines.
Drivers and travel shop staff adapted to the new ETM quickly following in-depth training and testing prior to deployment. That involved TransMach staff answering questions and offering practical help and advice. Such a hands-on approach “has cemented our confidence in the system,” adds Mr Greaves.
TransMach Sales Account Manager Jason Stevens-Read supervised the transition with LibertyBus in Jersey.
“We recognise that customers really value our personal touch and bespoke client-led approach to every project, so it has been a pleasure working with Sam and his team to deliver a seamless transition of both the ETM infrastructure and cloud-based management system,” he explains.
“By working together on location and involving the drivers and retail staff, the real-time feedback was invaluable in ensuring that we could deploy on schedule with no adverse impact on services.”
