South Wales bus operator Adventure Travel, part of the ComfortDelGro group, has announced the results of its 2024 Charity of the Year initiative, raising £1,300 for Cardiff Dogs Rescue Hotel.
The annual programme invites staff and customers to nominate and vote for a Welsh-based charity to support.
For 2024 Cardiff Dogs Rescue Hotel, an organisation that improves the welfare of dogs at Cardiff Dogs Home, was chosen as the beneficiary. The charity received funds and a promotional boost with one of Adventure Travel’s single-decker buses wrapped to promote its work.
Throughout the year Adventure Travel employees took part in fundraising events that included selling calendars, a staff bake sale, climbing Pen-y-Fan, volunteering at the rescue centre, auctioning bus memorabilia and donning Christmas jumpers.
“We want to say a huge thank you to everyone at Adventure Travel for all the amazing support they’ve given The Rescue Hotel as their Charity of the Year,” says Mathew Acreman, Director and Trustee at The Rescue Hotel. “The money raised, the awareness they have helped spread through their charity bus and even having some of the team volunteer at the home has made a big difference to the dogs we care for. Their generosity has been amazing and we’re so grateful. Thanks for everything!”
Adds Adam Keen, Managing Director for Adventure Travel: “This year’s fundraising for The Rescue Hotel has been a hands-on experience, particularly the time that some members of the Adventure Travel team and I spent volunteering to walk and care for the dogs. The volunteers and employees at Rescue Hotel do an exceptional job of making sure that abandoned dogs get the best possible care. We are proud to know that our contribution is going to be put to good use. I encourage people to visit their website and check the various ways that you can support their work.”
Dogs will also be the focus of this year’s charity initiative, as voted for by Adventure Travel customers and followers.
