Cardiff Bus has announced it raised £8,037 for its chosen charity, the MND Association, over the past year.
A series of activities organised by the operator, including monthly dress-down days, raffles, coffee mornings and a sponsored walk, helped raise funds towards care, research and campaigning around motor neurone disease.
Staff at Cardiff Bus, some of whom had personal experience of the disease, had nominated the charity.
Jen Doody, Human Resources Director at Cardiff Bus, says: “Tallying up this year’s donations and looking back at the efforts our team has put in over the last 12 months to raise vital funds for such a worthy charity is indeed a proud moment for Cardiff Bus.
“We have a number of staff within the company who have personal experience of this disease and understand how passionate they are about funding support and helping to research more effective treatments.
“With so many family members and friends affected by MND here at Cardiff Bus, it only felt right that we chose them as our charity of the year. We’re extremely proud of the fundraising efforts of our team and hope this donation will bring a cure that much closer.”
Kate Byron, volunteer at the MND Association, adds: “We were absolutely thrilled to be chosen as Cardiff Bus’s charity of the year. We can’t believe how much has been raised and would like to thank the whole team for everything they have done to raise this phenomenal amount.
“This will make a huge difference to people living with Motor Neurone Disease in the Cardiff and Vale area. Thank you!”
