East Yorkshire-based ‘band bus’ specialist MM Band Services has been purchased by the Pieter Smit Group of the Netherlands.

The deal brings the UK business under the umbrella of a major player in European entertainment logistics. MM Band Services will maintain its team here, specialist management capabilities and fleet of bespoke sleeper coaches while also becoming part the large Pieter Smit Group network of coaches, HGVs and specialised event logistics across Europe.

MM Band Services notes that the two businesses have a “shared mindset,” and that unification will deliver one-stop logistics to allow entire tours to be coordinated through a single network with hubs and support across the continent.

Pieter Smit Group adds how the UK “remains at the heart of the international touring industry,” and says that following Brexit, “a strong local presence has become essential for operating efficiently between the UK and mainland Europe.”

CEO Louise Smit told music industry sources that Brexit made operating band transport between the UK and mainland Europe “more complex,” and that while Pieter Smit already has a coach offering for that purpose, addition of MM Band Services “significantly expands our capacity, allowing us to offer greater flexibility and more reliable support across both regions.”

The Burstwick operator has received two new Van Hool TDX27 Astromega coaches since late 2025, both supplied with an empty interior to enable completion to bespoke ‘band bus’ layout. Those coaches continue a long history of selecting the TDX27 Astromega, with many other examples of the type having been operated.

“MM Band Services will continue to operate from its UK base under its trusted name, backed by the full operational strength, sustainable transport solutions and European network of the Pieter Smit Group,” the purchaser says.

New ownership for MM Band Service is the second such change in the music touring transport sector in recent months. Early June saw Newport-based Jumbocruiser purchased by business growth and acquisition specialist Hobboard.
