Steve May has been appointed as Operations Manager for Aldershot depot by Stagecoach South.
He brings more than a decade’s operational leadership experience from multiple sectors to the role, with previous employers including Amazon, Openreach, and businesses in the finance and logistics fields. There he led large teams, delivered results, and drove excellence.
Mr May holds a degree in business management and will oversee the day-to-day running of Aldershot depot, focusing on maintaining high service standards, supporting colleagues, and ensuring that customers continue to receive reliable bus provision.
In his new position, Mr May will additionally lead the operation of 11 new battery-electric buses being introduced at Aldershot as part of a wider fleet shift at Stagecoach South.
Speaking about his arrival with the group, he says: “At the heart of the role is making sure that we have the right people in place, keeping customers happy, and ensuring that everything runs smoothly.
“Working with people and delivering results have always been my biggest drivers, so taking on the challenge of leading a larger team here in Aldershot was a natural next step.”
Mr May has already worked with electric vehicle operations and operational change. That leaves him well placed to lead the depot through its own sustainable future, Stagecoach says.
He adds: “Electric buses bring a really exciting opportunity. They are reliable, quieter, smoother, and more comfortable for customers. I have worked through operational transitions before, and I am looking forward to bringing that experience here as we continue embracing new technology.”
In addition to operational priorities, Mr May says the engaging with the community will be among his focuses, with ambitions to strengthen links with local authorities, schools, colleges, charities, and other groups.
