Blackpool Transport reports that the annual cost savings as a result of its fleet renewal partnership with Alexander Dennis (ADL) have risen to £300,000.
Since 2016 Blackpool Transport has purchased a total of 107 Enviro200 and Enviro400 buses from ADL. The final 19 will be delivered this year. It is part of a strategy to maintain an average fleet age of below three years.
The operator forecasts that savings from fuel efficiency and reduced spare vehicle cover, and benefits from aftermarket support that has allowed the removal of £70,000 worth of parts stock from its balance sheet, will see its fleet cost £300,000 less to operate in 2019/20 than in 2015/16.
Discussions between the operator and ADL are now focused on continuing the programme.
