Stagecoach East Midlands has been named the group’s best performing operating company, while its Grimsby depot has been ranked number one across the wider business’s 115 garages.
Measurement of performance uses various metrics. Across Stagecoach East Midlands, year-on-year improvements have been delivered in punctuality, which rose by 4%; non-operated journeys, which fell by 29% and with internal causes down by 60%; and avoidable accidents, which eased by 8%.
In addition, employee injuries and staff turnover have each been cut by 25%. Sickness is down by 11%, with all improvements coming against a background of what the business describes as continued growth and introduction of new services.
Stagecoach East Midlands operates around 550 buses. Besides Grimsby, depots include Gainsborough, Hull, Lincoln, Mansfield, Scunthorpe, Skegness, Spalding, and Worksop
Says Managing Director Matt Cranwell: “In such a large, national business, there is clearly a lot of competition around the regions to give the best performance for our customers.
“Coming out on top is only possible because of the huge efforts put in by the team to give the region a bus service to be proud of. The team are locally based, so they will always go that extra mile to help to keep our local communities connected.
“Of course, this result only inspires us to want to do even better next year – as we intend to stay at the top.”
To mark the achievement, members of the Stagecoach East Midlands team partook in an open-top bus tour using one of several such members of the operator’s fleet. They saw off 17 other operating companies with patches extending from Cornwall to the Orkneys in being crowned number one performer across the group.
