Bus Users UK is hiring for new Trustees to champion passengers, to work from home.
Bus Users UK is the independent voice for bus and coach passengers, campaigning for accessible, inclusive and reliable services for all communities across England, Scotland and Wales.
With more than 50 years of history, we work to ensure that everyone can travel safely and with confidence, while championing improvements that make bus more accessible, sustainable and meeting the needs of passengers.
As we continue to grow our impact and influence, we are seeking new Trustees (a voluntary role) to join our Board and help shape the future direction of the organisation.
Trustees work in partnership with the Chair, fellow Trustees, the Chief Executive and staff team to ensure that the charity is effectively governed, financially sustainable, accountable to its stakeholders and achieving its strategic aims and objectives.
Commitment required:
- Four Board meetings per year, held both virtually (3) and in person (1).
- Trustees may also be invited to support working groups as required.
- Occasional attendance at stakeholder events, sector meetings and training sessions.
Skills and experience
We are seeking individuals with experience of operating at a strategic or senior leadership level, and ideally some previous Board or governance experience.
Our Trustees should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, sound independent judgement and an understanding of the opportunities and challenges involved in running a small national charity.
A passion for accessible, inclusive and sustainable public transport is essential.
We are especially interested in hearing from people with skills or experience in:
- Finance and audit
- Legal and governance
- Technical passenger facilitation
- Accessibility and inclusion
