The Coach Travel Group is continuing what it describes as a restoration of the Lucketts Travel operation following purchase from National Express as part of a multi-business deal in 2025.
As a latest step in those efforts, Lucketts will restart a day trip programme. More than 65 of those excursions will run from this September to March 2027, recommencing what The Coach Travel Group says is one of Lucketts’ traditional strengths.
This year sees the Fareham business celebrate its centenary. The Coach Travel Group adds that since Lucketts came into its ownership last year, it has invested “in the heritage of one of the UK’s best-known coaching brands.”
Earlier in 2026, the south coast business revived its coach holiday programme. The new tourism-based offering includes trips that capture leisure travel experiences, visits to coastal destinations, shopping opportunities, excursions to festive markets and other festive events, and theatre itineraries.
Return of Lucketts’ holiday programme saw inclusion of home pick-ups. Day trips represent “another major step in reconnecting the business with its longstanding customer base,” it says.
Adds Commercial Director Jiten Desai: “Celebrating Lucketts’ 100th anniversary has given us the perfect opportunity to reintroduce services that have been at the heart of the business for generations.
“The return of our day excursions programme is another important milestone, following the successful relaunch of our holidays earlier this year. With the support and investment of The Coach Travel Group, we are proud to be restoring Lucketts to its roots while continuing to modernise the business for the future.”
Lucketts Travel joined The Coach Travel Group in October 2025 alongside Clarkes of London, The Kings Ferry, and Worthing Coaches. At the time, CEO Tom Stables noted that the purchaser was “committed to restoring each operator’s local identity and empowering them to grow in the private hire and contract space.”
The Fareham business was purchased from the Luckett family by National Express during March 2020.
