Johnsons Coaches of Henley-in-Arden has added a pair of Irizar i6S Efficient coaches to its fleet, supplied by Irizar UK. One is a 14m tri-axle and the other is a 12.9m two-axle model.
The larger of the two newcomers (pictured, above) has 63 seats, each with USB charging, a magazine net and a drop-down table. Its high capacity was achieved via the fitment of a lower-positioned centre toilet cabinet. That has enabled an extra seat pair to be placed on top, with a compromise on spacing.
PSVAR compliance has been incorporated on the tri-axle thanks to a Masats KS8 lift above the drive wheels. Destination display equipment is provided by Hanover. Power in the coach is from the DAF MX-11 engine developing 449bhp driving through a ZF EcoLife automatic gearbox.
The two-axle coach (pictured, right) has 53 seats, each with a three-point belt, a drop-down table and USB charging point.
It has been configured to ‘PSVAR ready’ specification, including fitment of an additional door, to allow for straightforward future conversion to full compliance.
That provision protects residual values, Irizar UK notes.
DAF’s MX-11 engine is again fitted in the smaller coach, developing 408bhp and coupled to a ZF Traxon automated manual gearbox. Both new vehicles have Irizar’s rear view camera system in lieu of traditional mirrors, which is one of multiple fuel- and weight-saving items that have been introduced by the OEM on the i6S Efficient range.
