Ashley Travel of Sheffield has taken delivery of a VDL Futura FHD2, supplied by VDL Bus and Coach UK.
It is a 12.9m, two-axle example. Power comes from a DAF MX-11 engine developing 408bhp coupled to a ZF EcoLife automatic gearbox. PSVAR compliance has been specified, with a lift mounted above the drive axle.
Area Sales Manager Tim Fairless (pictured, second from left) handed over the new VDL to the three young members of the Ashley Travel management team at the dealership’s Barnsley premises. All hold Transport Manager CPCs and PCV driving licences.
The coach follows previous Futura FHD2 models into the Yorkshire fleet. Director Andy Powell notes that the business has specified various extras to suit touring needs and that the large fuel tanks are useful when planning journeys.
“Past VDL purchases have given good reliability and passenger comfort. The manufacturer offers excellent technical support and back-up, with knowledgeable staff to hand,” adds Mr Powell. A cherished registration mark and polished alloy wheels complete the coach.
