Notts and Derby, a subsidiary of the Wellglade Group, has taken delivery of three Enviro400 double-deckers and two Enviro200 single-deckers from Alexander Dennis. They are for use on the Unibus service, which is provided on behalf of the University of Derby.
Unibus links the educational establishment’s sites, as well as serving Derby railway station and park-and-ride facilities. It is part-funded by car park charges and carried 335,000 passengers during the 2021/22 academic year.
A mixture of 85-seat Enviro400s and 34-seat Enviro200s was selected to match vehicle types to demand. All five buses have Alexander Dennis SmartSeats with three-point belts.
Speaking about the delivery, Notts and Derby Manager Stuart Frost says: “The new buses not only look great, but they help to promote sustainable travel across the University of Derby network.
“Students travelling on Unibus are delighted with these new buses. The level of onboard comfort makes travelling a pleasure for those wanting to get things done. It is a very productive experience.”
Adds Alexander Dennis Regional Sales Manager Lee Salt: “We are delighted to continue to support the Wellglade Group in delivering its excellent services across the East Midlands.
“Following earlier deliveries of Enviro200 single-deckers to sister company Trentbarton, these five new buses will fit right into the Notts and Derby fleet and enable it to provide a first-class service to the University of Derby and its students.”
