The London Borough of Redbridge has added five Enviro200 single-deckers to its fleet. They represent the local authority’s first vehicle order from Alexander Dennis.
At 10.8m long, the buses each have a bespoke interior that includes high-backed seats with three-point belts, USB charging points and CCTV. The Borough’s Passenger Transport Service arm will operate them. It delivers 25,000 customer trips per week from its base in Ilford, East London.
The new buses have Alexander Dennis’s SmartPack efficient diesel technology. It combines engine stop-start functionality and electrically driven cooling fans with management of the alternator and air compressor that sees them both engage only during vehicle deceleration, thus placing no additional load on the engine.
Speaking about the Enviro200s, London Borough of Redbridge Passenger Transport Service Procurement Lead Colin Clarke says: “These new buses are an excellent addition to our fleet, and we are pleased to be able to introduce them to our many customers.”
Adds Alexander Dennis Regional Sales Manager Mark Taylor: “We are delighted to be working with the team at the London Borough of Redbridge. It is great to hand over these high-quality, reliable buses that we know will deliver exactly what it is looking for.”
