Maynes Coaches has taken delivery of a three-strong Neoplan Tourliner batch, supplied by MAN Truck and Bus UK.

Two are 12.1m P21 examples each accommodating 49 passengers. The other is a 13.9m tri-axle P22 that can carry 61. Seats in all three coaches are from Kiel with lateral adjustment and leather inserts along with drop-down tables and armrests. Three-point belts and USB charging points are also fitted.

Maynes has now placed what it describes as “an identical vehicle order” for delivery in March 2025. Director Kevin Mayne says that the coaches have been procured based on strong existing relationships with MAN and dealership Elgin Truck and Van Centre via Neoplan Tourliner products already in the Buckie fleet.

“Both understand our business and work with us to help ensure that we meet our operational needs,” adds Mr Mayne, who notes that the Tourliner offers “exceptional value for money.”

He continues: “They also offer exceptional levels of comfort for our customers, which in turn means that we can deliver a relaxed, restful and stress-free service. With the latest Euro VI engines we can also take advantage of the improved fuel efficiency and reduce our carbon footprint.”

The Tourliner P21 pair are each powered by the D26 engine developing 430bhp coupled to a ZF EcoLife automatic gearbox. The P22 has the D26 at 480bhp driving through a Traxon automated manual transmission.

Part of the driveline specification in all three coaches is MAN Efficient Roll and MAN Efficient Cruise. Those functions maximise fuel economy via use of momentum and topographical knowledge.

Among passenger amenities in each Tourliner are a centre sunken toilet, a drinks machine, a fridge, and a small servery including a coffee machine, a water heater, and the trademark Neoplan sausage boiler. Air-conditioning is via a 33kW Valeo unit and an Eberspächer coolant preheater has been specified.

A comprehensive entertainment system is part of the package along with a heated and cooled driver’s seat, satellite navigation, a reversing camera and automatic headlights.
