West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) has taken delivery of seven Orion E battery-electric minibuses, supplied by Mellor and for operation by First West Yorkshire on the demand responsive Flexibus service in Leeds.
Range is 160km and charging can be done rapidly. Each 12-seat minibus has Hanover destination display equipment, a Webasto auxiliary heater, GreenRoad telematics and USB charging points.
WYCA Head of Mobility Services Edwin Swaris says: “We have had positive feedback from drivers who find that the buses handle well and are responsive when climbing or pulling away from stops.
“There has also been positive feedback from passengers and stakeholders, who find the buses light, airy, comfortable and, most of all, clean and quiet.”
