Do you want to help shape the direction that your industry takes next year and for many years afterwards? If you’re a member of the Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT), the chance to do that is here through a consultation on the Confederation’s future.
Much has been said over recent weeks about what the CPT of tomorrow will look like. There is no denying that as an organisation, change is on the horizon for it.
Similarly, there is no question that lots of what has circulated already is unsubstantiated rumour that bears little relation to reality.
Nonetheless, certain figures in the coach industry should not escape credit. They have vehemently championed their sector’s needs in CPT circles over recent weeks. Make no mistake, they have ensured that coaches will not be overlooked by the Confederation of the future.
But the first step on the road to change is recognising that the need for it exists. CPT accepts that it is at that juncture. To suggest that it does not is absurd. To get the process of change on track, its consultation was launched last week at Euro Bus Expo.
What figures highly among its proposals is a wish to enhance CPT’s communication with outside bodies. Be they central government, local authorities, stakeholders in the air quality debate or any of the many others that have a say in what the future holds for the industry, it’s important that they are engaged with.
To help it do that, CPT needs a mandate from its membership. It needs them to contribute to the consultation and make their views known.
If you are a member, it is imperative that you respond. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to influence the direction that CPT will take. Don’t waste it.
