There’s plenty of doom and gloom, not just in the industry as firms collapse, but also in the wider news agenda. It’s true that bad news ‘sells’, but it’s the good news about how well people in the industry do in their jobs, everyday, that should be the real story.
But having a well-motivated team doesn’t just happen. It requires a company to articulate a clear ambition and provide staff with the tools to do the job. That isn’t just hardware, it’s also manager support, coaching and training.
Transdev Blazefield is not shy when it comes to this and its second annual awards last week saw 120 people gather in Bradford, to be greeted by stand-up comedian and The Chase star Paul Sinhar, alongside BBC North West Tonight presenter Dianne Oxberry. It was also good to hear Bradford Councillor and WYCA Chair Susan Hinchcliffe praise the firm and its staff.
Says MD Alex Hornby: “We’re the amazing bus company because we believe in three things. Employing people who are happy to work for us; serving people who are proud to be our customers and creating a business which is innovative and successful.”
It was clear at the awards that there are highly motivated people, who are part of a wider workforce.
It doesn’t matter what the job is; if as a manager you are able to lead from the front and enthuse your team, then you are on the right track
