Coventry will not be subject to a Clean Air Zone. The news comes after proposals from Coventry City Council (CCC) to improve air quality via alternative options gained government support.

However, CCC says it “is absolutely vital” that air quality in the city is addressed.

It plans to do that via measures including highways engineering, improved traffic management and the introduction of electric buses on Foleshill Road.

CCC provided modelling to the government proving that its plans will addres air quality issues in Coventry without the need for a Clean Air Zone It must now submit a final business case by 19 June with more details of the schemes that are due to get underway.
