Charity Bradford PHAB has launched a crowdfunding appeal to raise money for a new minibus after a request to local schools and community groups in the city to allow the purchase of one of their old vehicles failed.
Chairman Akbar Khan says that the group is in “desperate need” of a a replacement for its existing 20-year old minibus to allow it to continue to provide transport to events and activities for the less able across Bradford and the surrounding areas.
“We have a large group of children and young people both with and without disabilities. We provide a range of activities for them to access, and participants are transported to and from the club each week,” he adds.
“We have fixed costs of around £5,000 per year just to provide transport for the less able to attend club and activity nights.”
Bradford PHAB was established in 1972 and it relies totally on donations. Its existing minibus has become a maintenance headache, hence the need for a newer model.
