Telford coach operator A-Star Transport has fitted Wheely-Safe tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and wheel loss sensor technology to its fleet.
The product has already proved itself useful by flagging a slow puncture, says owner Mike Wear. “We had been looking for a suitable TPMS but a lot of those we found included a monthly subscription. The fact that we could pay a one-off price for the Wheely-Safe kit and then it was ours, appealed to us, especially after the challenges of the last few years.
“The additional benefits of the wheel loss and hub overheating alerts built into the technology were another tick in the box. It is a complete package that allows us to always be confident in the health of our wheels and tyres.”
The TPMS sensors replace the existing valve cap and auto-pair with an in-cab receiver. They complement the wheel loss sensors. A-Star Transport fitted the equipment itself after a demonstration from a Wheely-Safe technician.
Adds Mr Wear: “We have got the systems working on all our operational vehicles, from the smaller 16-seat Mercedes-Benz Sprinter minibuses to the 55-seat twin-axle Caetano coaches. It is simple to install and I even have the TPMS product running on my car as well, ensuring that I am always driving on tyres inflated to the optimal pressure.”
