In the UK there are a few ‘beacon’ coach and bus companies – ones who go above and beyond and just do things right.
Lakeside Coaches, featured in last week’s issue [routeone/Operator/19 September], is one of these.
There are others who I met over the years. Pulhams, North Dorset, DJ Thomas, Delaine are ones that come immediately to mind and who most will know.
Others include Dudleys, Taw & Torridge, CJ Down, Roselyn, Taf Valley, Edwards of Haverfordwest, Jones of Login, Ffoshelig.
I would never contemplate operating any more, but if you are, talk to one of these and you'll get on the right path from the start.
Lakeside Coaches is a wonderful shining beacon to others. Learn from them and you'll be fine.
