The Association of Local Bus Managers (ALBUM) has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting gender diversity in the transport sector by renewing its partnership with Women in Transport for another year.
The collaboration began in 2023 and aims to address under-representation of women in the bus sector while bolstering efforts among operators towards achieving equality, diversity and inclusivity goals.
Numerous benefits are offered for ALBUM members including exclusive events and continuous support. Members have the opportunity to secure discounted or complimentary memberships with Women in Transport, allowing participation in various events through the year. The initiatives are designed to help operators harness advantages of having a more diverse and inclusive workforce.
Says Bill Hiron, Chairman of ALBUM: “ALBUM is proud to continue working with Women in Transport. Its commitment to diversity and inclusion in the bus industry aligns well with our objectives. We are excited to collaborate on initiatives that will drive positive change and support the development of a more equitable industry.
“Together, we can achieve more and positively impact the future of transport. Last year, our partnership provided multiple memberships to ALBUM operators and allowed one of our members from Warrington’s Own Buses to take part in the mentorship programme. We were also delighted to have Women in Transport speakers at our 2023 and 2024 Annual Conference. This year, we have even more collaborative plans to support ALBUM members alongside WIT, including webinars and special events.”
Adds Dal Kailrai, Interim CEO of Women in Transport: “We are thrilled that ALBUM has renewed its partnership with us, reaffirming our shared mission to build a strong network and community within the transport sector that can make a real impact. This partnership renewal includes collaboration across several key projects for Women in Transport including our Diversity and Inclusion Bus Group, the Advance mentoring programme and our 2024 Equity Index.
“The invaluable support of ALBUM is helping us support gender equity in transport nationally and make a positive impact across the sector as a whole. We look forward to our continued collaboration and the promising future ahead.”
